INFINITY WAR CHARACTERS THAT MIGHT MAKE ME CRY--PAST HISTORY OF MOVIE CRYING--
Disclaimers: No Infinity War Spoilers; I have not seen. Don't spoil to me till Sunday; I'm seeing it Saturday. Spoilers for other MCU films, Toy Story 3, Star Wars: TFA, and La La Land. You have been warned.
I don't cry during movies. I was once a young kid like everyone, and I may have cried in fear when I saw Toy Story 3's incinerator scene. I honestly don't remember. But I only remember honest-to-goodness crying during one movie. I wanted to cry during Inside Out. I wanted to cry during Rogue One. I wanted to cry during The Last Jedi. I wanted to cry during Wonder Woman. I wanted to cry during Black Panther. I really wanted to cry during both Guardians films. And I might have choked up over a few Loki and Kylo scenes before. But there was only one film I honest-to-goodness cried-so-hard-like-a-baby-and-it-was-embarrassing. And that was La La Land. The whole movie had me viciously fighting tears, and, if you know me and movies, I have a reputation for not crying. Not during Hunger Games or Pixar. Not during Star Wars. I'm notorious. Does that mean I'm some sort of cold-hearted person who doesn't feel things the same way? Well, I'm not. More often than not, I'll be annoyingly tight during a scene, completely wrapped in the action and immobile. And I don't cry after either. Yeah, I probably write about it. But I don't cry. I only cry when my real life is shit and I have someone to blame for it, including myself. I have to be riled and angry to cry. I have to yell. And you can't do that in a movie theater.
Fortunately, I was on my living-room couch when I saw La La Land. Just me and my family, thankfully. And by the end of the film...you know the part. I was furious. Absolutely enraged. I mean, I get it. I do. Not everyone ends up together. And that's okay. But it was the montage that pissed me. Ugh. I was so mad that she was cheating on her husband, in her head, or that's how I saw it. Oh, my God. I wanted to hit Emma Stone's character (sorry I don't remember her name) right in the face. But I didn't. Instead I started crying my angry cry. Yup. And I ended up reconciling with Mia (was that her name?), realizing that it was her way of letting go. But oh, boy, that one was a doozy. Another scene that made me incredibly shocked and angry in cinema was Han Solo's death in The Force Awakens. It's been two flippin years guys, I'm not spoiling anyone! But okay. It pissed me. Bad. Kylo pissed me off. Insanely. (Yes, I've come around to the character since, and I am desperately hoping for his redemption in Episode 9, as he clearly has a lot of issues and conflict between his own beliefs and those instilled in him by Snoke and the Dark Side.) Regardless, I was pissed. But I didn't cry. I'd spent the whole day earlier crying when my Grandma had a massive heart attack and I couldn't waste anything on this. But it still reminds me of that fateful weekend in my life....
Alright. Onto the list. Spoilers for other MCU movies.
11: B-list Avengers (Scarlet Witch, War Machine, Falcon, Dr. Strange, etc.) Reasons: I think the very concept of an Avengers movie of this scope is emotional, and some of these characters could have their moments. But in reality, probably not.
10: Wakandans: Yeah, most of them are safe and probably not going to die. But if they touch even ONE WAKANDAN I'll be pissed. Insanely. Even so, they're very heart and soul kinda people, so they're emotional anyway. Still not crying.
9: Asgardians. By this, I mean in addition to random Asgardian casualties, Heimdall, Valkyrie, Korg, etc. Now we're taking a bit. Especially if we loose Val. Regardless, this is gonna be a big loss for Asgard. #ForAsgard. Crying? Maybe after Ragnarok.
8: Hawkeye (If he's even in it...) You know, they set up so much with his family in Ultron I'm afraid he could die protecting his family. If he's in it...oh boy. Crying? Possibly.
7: Captain America/Steve Rogers & Bucky Barnes. While not a huge Cap fan, the relationship with Bucky is so good. Bucky is a tragic character, and Cap dying and Bucky's reaction (or the other way around, less likely.) would be SUPER EMOTIONAL for a lot of people. I don't ship Stucky, but friendship hurts. Crying? If they show Bucky's face...?
6: Drax: Oh, hell, no. If he dies trying to beat Thanos. He's so funny, yet tragic. And reckless. Very reckless. No, Drax! Crying? Well, I didn;t over Yondu, although I wanted to, but maaaayyybeee...
5: Proxima Midnight. Alright I know VERY little about this character, but if she's at all complex, I can see shit getting real. Also, she looks badass as hell. And if she does the unspeeakable...yeah, I'll cry in rage at her and sadness over....number 1ish. Crying? Fine. I'll say it. If she kills Loki I'll cry in rage as I summon Mjolnir from beyond.
4: Gamora/Nebula. Based on Guardians 3, I don't think Gamora is going to die. Nebula very well could, and likely will. That would be so sad to see. Also more with their past explored would definitely be emotional to say the least. Crying? A definite possibility.
3: Vision. Hell no. What about the sassy, cape flying, mind-stone weilding badass Jarvis that vision is? He's gonna die. Oh, shit. Crying? Quite possible....noooooooo!!! (I feel like he was just introduced.)
2: Tony Stark. No. Just no. I know he's not a sappy character, but if Pepper died...oh, no. I think he might die as well/instead. His death could be a passing of the torch to Spiderman's generation, and could very well be saved for Avenegers 4. But if it happens in this film, Peter Parker witnessing Tony's death. Just no. Crying? If I was a normal human being, I'd be bawling. As it is, I hope I could/will.
1: Thor & Loki: No, Thor won't likely die. He's not a sappy character either. Why would I cry over Thor? Same reason as everything else. I'd feel his pain. ** This time will be legit and I knew dark world was BS anyway cuz I saw Raganrok....so a Thor and Loki scene is yet to make me cry for real....but I'm getting emotional just thinking about it. If Loki legit dies like for real. *Already crying* and Thor sees it....nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo....Crying? Dang, I hope so. I don't think I can hold all that in. Getting emotional thinking about it.....
Scenes that almost made me cry in previous MCU films. SPOILERS:
"We are Groot."
Yondu's death. Nuff said.
That elevator scene in Ragnarok before "get help" where Thor accepts Loki as Loki and Loki says it's best if they never see each other again.
The final scene w Cap and Tony in Civil War.
Scene w Cap and Bucky at the end of Winter soldier.
"Your ledger is dripping red...."
"I could have done it father...for you!"
Loki in his cell.
Quicksilver's death.
Valkyrie flashback.
Loki's parentage.
"Am I not your mother..."
Star Lord rallying everyone....
I mean Loki's "death."
and the MVP:...
"If you were here I might even give you a hug."
"I'm here."
Anyway, sorry to be sappy. THANOS DEMANDS SILENCE!!!! Cya Infinty War probably :).
