LOKI ISN'T A VILLAIN!--But he's not a hero either...and neither are 98% of people
Well, this oughta be good. (I'm so tired of making these posts but I got into an argument with my dad.) SPOILERS FOR THOR MOVIES AND INFINITY WAR TRAILER.)
A true villain is someone who usually doesn't care about anyone but themselves and will stop at nothing. A true hero is basically the opposite. And the truth is that most of us are somewhere in the middle--like Loki.
Ten reasons Loki isn't a villain--or a hero in no particular order...3,2,1...LOKI!
#10: IF HE WASN'T CONFLICTED, HE WOULD'VE KILLED THOR A LONG TIME AGO I think this one is pretty obvious. Yes, he may be the god of mischief and not death, but most truly evil figures (true villains) including historical rulers usually have their family killed...to get to the throne. Yes, he's not as strong as Thor, but he's cunning enough to definitely set something up.
#9 IF HE REALLY DIDN'T CARE ABOUT THE FATE OF THOR AND ASGARD, WHY DIDN'T HE JUST STAY ON SACAAR--OR DESERT ON THE SPACESHIP? I mean, seriously. Maybe he was wanted on Sacaar so he took the opportunity to leave, but he could've escaped Asgard later....and yeah, he's pretty much the god of self-preservation, so he'd definitely not put himself in danger unless he was sure of the outcome (he's also clearly scared of Hela early in the movie, and he doesn't know the outcome). It's more likely for Loki to die on Asgard than almost anywhere else--so why would he go to the place where the most evil being in the universe is residing if he wasn't POSITIVE he could beat her (they clearly don't have much of a plan). Obviously he cares about Asgard and Thor, and his human (whatever) promotional instincts of family outweigh the risk. (Also, he doesn't have time to think about personal gain he could get from beating Hela.)
#8 HE CHICKENS OUT A LOT BUT WE ALL DO. I'd say maybe 5% of the population would have stayed when Hela started advancing--Loki's "take us back," was a very natural human reaction, and he didn't have time to think about consequences.) The point is being scared and impulsive are not evil traits, they can just lead to bad things.
#7 HE IS SORT OF A GOD, SO HE CAN CAUSE MORE HAVOC THAN THE AVERAGE PERSON. Haven't we all done selfish things that damaged the people around us? Yeah, he literally put Earth in danger, but a lot of us probably would if we could. Just saying we all do destructive things, we just don't see the consequences. (Also we're constantly destroying the planet as a species, so there's that.)
#6 IF HE DIDN'T LIKE OR CARE ABOUT ANYONE, THAN WHY THE HECK DOES HE KEEP TALKING TO THOR? I get it, maybe he needs the love and affirmation from Thor. But really, isn't Thor more of a bully to Loki than anything? If he really hated him, he'd have cut himself off from the family (not showing up to talk to Thor at random intervals.)
#5 WE LIKE HIM AND RELATE--PEOPLE LIKE HELA JUST INSPIRE PURE HATRED IN MOST PEOPLE. Yeah. I get it. You can be an evil charmer. But wouldn't he reveal himself as something much more unlikable when he goes on his rampage? Like most of us don't relate to Hitler, right?
#4 ONE'S PAST GENERALLY INFLUENCES THEIR DECISIONS AND MIND. Finding out you were secretly adopted from the enemy race is hard. Also, being overshadowed is hard. And he needs to mature and work past his jealousy issues (he's stuck in the past which isn't healthy or right--but VERY human.) Generally if someone isn't spoiled or a psycho and they have a stable parental relationship they'll have fewer issues than someone who grows up in an unstable situation. He really needs talk therapy more than anything (a normal young adult struggling with getting past things and getting along with relatives, maybe? Sounds uncomfortably familiar for many of you, I'm sure.)
#3 HE'S MORE OF AN OPPORTUNIST THAN AN ACTUAL VILLAIN. He'll fight on the side that will win and set him up, even if it's good. If he were only evil, he'd stop at nothing and only do bad things.
#2 I HATE REITERATING!! BUT HE'S JUST LIKE US. ENOUGH!! NOW TO MAKE A TROLL POINT. HE DRESSES AWESOME, LOL.
#1 HE DOES WRONG THINGS FOR THE WRONG REASONS--JUST LIKE ALL OF US. Seriously, can any of you say that you haven't done at least one devious thing to set up someone else for your own personal gain? If not, then you're the god of lying.
THIS WAS A REALLY FUNNY POST, DON'T TAKE ME SERIOUSLY LOL, BUT REALLY HE'S JUST LIKE A LOT OF US.
